GNFC has embarked upon a massive project for socio economic empowerment of women by way of Neem seeds collection. Under this project, almost 4000 centres have been opened all over Gujarat for collection of Neem seeds through women Self Help Groups, Mahila Pani Samitis, Milk Co-operatives, etc. It is estimated that during a period of next three months, this project would benefit to the tune of around Rs. 75 - 100 crores as additional income generation for rural women folk.
The project was formally launched by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Gujarat Smt. Anandiben Patel during a function held at Bavla, Dist. Ahmedabad on 5th June 2015. On this occasion, a Neem Seeds Basket was handed over to Hon'ble CM by GNFC Managing Director Dr. Rajiv Kumar Gupta, IAS. Hon'ble CM in turn handed over Neem seeds baskets to rural women of Self help Groups (Sakhi Mandal) and declared the launching of the project. She also emphasized that Neem oil coating of Urea will not only increase the soil nutritional benefits by 10 -15% but also prevent the diversion of Urea for non agricultural purpose. She emphasized that the decision taken by Government of India for production of 100% Neem Urea will go in a long way in increasing availability of Urea to farmers and increase the agricultural productivity. She complimented GNFC on this innovative and unique initiative.
